USA Baseball (the governing body for amateur baseball) has a new bat standard that went in to effect January 1, 2018 called the USABat standard. Grassland Athletic Association has adopted this new bat standard, effective January 1, 2019. As such, we have established the following bat policy:
- For league play, players must have a bat that meets the USABat standard. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- No USSSA-sanctioned (or other sanctioned) bat may be used in league play (either the 2 1/4-inch, 2 5/8-inch or 2 3/4-inch barrel) starting January 1, 2019.
- When playing games at other parks, teams must comply with that park's bat requirements (and we’ll do our best to know what those are prior to sending a team there).
- Teams playing tournament games sanctioned by outside bodies such as USSSA, Game7, BPA, etc. will be expected to abide by the bat standards required by the applicable sanctioning body.
Teams found to be using illegal bats may be forced to forfeit without warning.
